Skyline Towers is the City’s largest skyscraper outside of Manhattan with 753 apartment units. As part of the building construction, the existing combined sewer required relocation due to the installation of a new MTA entrance to the existing E/M subway station. The new entrance was ADA compliant with a fully functioning elevator.

Koysman Engineering (Koysman) provided resident engineering and inspection services for the sewer and water main installation. This included weekly coordination with NYCDEP as well as coordination with NYCDOT and MTA (due to the adjacent subway station). The firm was also tasked with sewer redesign due to field obstructions as well as structural calculations for the sewer chamber redesign. This was a complex task for such a large site in a constrained environment.

Beyond the base work, Koysman also coordinated with the FDNY for communication conduit relocation and coordinated necessary lane closures and roadway restoration with NYCDOT.

The project required design in accordance with NYCDEP and NYCDOT standards as well as approvals. The team was also responsible for closing out the sewer and water portions of the project.
