New York City’s Build It Back Program assists homeowners, landlords and tenants in the five boroughs whose primary homes were damaged by Hurricane Sandy. The goal of the program is to help residents return to safe, sustainable homes by addressing unmet housing needs and damage prevention. This project is funded by the Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG-DR), a Disaster Recovery Bill recently amended by Congress. Now that many of these homes are rebuilt, it is the task of Koysman Engineering to aid in coordinating the proper closeout of open jobs within the DOB system.

Koysman Engineering is providing project expediting services on behalf of the Housing Recovery Office (HRO) for over 50 homes in Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. These homes have a wide array of DOB objections, missing or failed inspections, and other non-compliance items keeping these jobs open and unresolved.

The Koysman Engineering team’s responsibilities are to coordinate with DOB, HRO, and architects of record to perform the tasks necessary for project completion. Every home is different, and the tasks required for closeout vary from corrective work and changes to plans to fixing form errors and scheduling inspections.
